Full Control Over Who Can Watch Your Videos — Domain Restrictions & Embed-Only Mode
When you host videos for your Patreon, your membership site, or any platform, you want to make sure your content stays where it belongs. People share links, bots scrape URLs, and before you know it, your exclusive content is being watched somewhere you never intended.
ReedTV now gives you full control over where your videos can be played — down to the individual video level.
Restrict Playback to Specific Domains
You can now set allowed domains for your videos. When configured, your video will only play on those specific domains. Anyone trying to embed or watch it from an unauthorized domain will see an error.
For example, if you set your allowed domain to patreon.com, your video will play inside Patreon posts but won't work if someone copies the embed code to another site. This works with any platform — Patreon, Medium, WordPress, your own website, or any combination.
Tip: When restricting to a specific platform, make sure to add both the root domain and the www subdomain. For example, for Patreon, add both patreon.com and www.patreon.com to ensure your videos work correctly.
You can set allowed domains globally (applies to all your videos) or per-video (override the global setting for individual videos). Per-video settings always take precedence.
Disable the Watch Page Entirely
By default, every ReedTV video has a watch page at reedtv.com/watch?v=... where anyone with the link can view it. With the new Disable Watch Page option, you can turn this off completely.
When disabled, the watch page simply shows "Video Unavailable" — your video can only be viewed through embeds on your allowed domains. There's no indication that the video exists elsewhere or how it can be accessed. Someone who stumbles on the link gets the same message as a deleted video.
Like domain restrictions, this can be set globally for all your videos, or per-video for more granular control.
