ReedTV ("we," "us," or "our") operates the video hosting platform at reedtv.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

By using ReedTV, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our service:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and password (hashed) when you create an account.
  • Video content: Videos you upload to the platform, including metadata such as title, description, duration, and file size.
  • Usage analytics: Aggregated view counts, viewer countries, and referrer URLs for your videos. Viewer IP addresses are hashed and not stored in identifiable form.
  • Payment information: Billing details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
  • Technical data: Information automatically collected when you use the service, such as browser type and general location (country level).

How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Provide the service: Host your videos, generate embed links, display analytics, and deliver the features you expect from the platform.
  • Process payments: Manage your subscription, calculate storage usage, and handle overage billing through Stripe.
  • Send transactional emails: Email verification, password resets, billing notifications, and important account updates. We do not send marketing emails.
  • Improve the platform: Understand how the service is used so we can fix issues and build better features.
  • Enforce our terms: Prevent abuse and ensure the platform is used in accordance with our Terms of Service.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored and processed using the following infrastructure:

  • Cloudflare Workers and D1: Our application runs on Cloudflare Workers, and account data is stored in Cloudflare D1 (a serverless SQLite database). Data is distributed across Cloudflare's global network.
  • Cloudflare Stream: Videos are stored and delivered through Cloudflare Stream, which handles encoding, adaptive bitrate streaming, and content delivery.
  • Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management are handled entirely by Stripe. Your payment details are stored on Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
  • AWS SES: Transactional emails (verification, password resets, billing alerts) are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (AWS SES).

We use encryption for sensitive data, including hashed passwords and encrypted API tokens. All connections to ReedTV use HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate ReedTV. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We only share data with these services as necessary to operate the platform.

Bring Your Own Account (BYOA)

If you use the BYOA feature to connect your own Cloudflare Stream account, we store your Cloudflare account ID and an API token that you provide. The API token is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and is only decrypted when making API calls to Cloudflare on your behalf.

Your BYOA videos remain on your own Cloudflare account. We do not copy or migrate them to our infrastructure. You can disconnect your Cloudflare account at any time, which removes the stored credentials from our system.

Cookies and Local Storage

ReedTV uses a minimal approach to browser storage:

  • Authentication tokens: We store a JSON Web Token (JWT) in your browser's localStorage to keep you logged in. This token is used solely for authentication and expires automatically.
  • No tracking cookies: We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.
  • No third-party trackers: We do not embed third-party tracking scripts such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar services.

Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

  • Account data: Kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information from our systems.
  • Video content: Stored as long as your account is active and your subscription is in good standing. Videos on shared storage are removed if your account is deleted.
  • Analytics data: View statistics are retained as long as the associated video exists. Viewer IP hashes are not reversible to actual IP addresses.
  • Payment records: Billing history is retained as required by law and Stripe's data retention policies.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can update your account information at any time through your account settings, or contact us to correct any inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data by contacting us at support@reedtv.com.
  • Data portability: You can export your video data at any time. BYOA users already have direct access to their videos on their own Cloudflare account.

Children's Privacy

ReedTV is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@reedtv.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Changes are effective immediately upon posting.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of ReedTV after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
